Huis van Zessen, founded in 1510, is the oldest, still existing courtyard. It was intended for six old Catholic men. The last destination was the property part of the city hall complex.
The façade was rebuilt in neoclassical style in the 19th century. From that period are the great empire windows and plaster block. Inside are several rooms in Neo-Renaissance style: the main hall (1910) and the regent chamber (1922).
The courtyard, a national monument, is located in the center of Alkmaar in the Schoutenstraat between the Langestraat and Laat.
The property has been renovated inside and outside in a unique building with eight apartments. Some of them will retain the monumental status.

Through the entrance you enter the spacious living room with open kitchen and beautiful views of the Great Church. There are two bedrooms at the front, one with the washing machine. The kitchen is equipped with appliances: fridge, dishwasher, ceramic hob with extractor fan and a microwave. The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet.
Behind the complex is a shared courtyard and on the first floor is a shared balcony. There is a bicycle storage for residents.

- Available for a minimum of one year, then for an indefinite period;
