Huis van Zessen , founded in 1510, is the oldest, still existing courtyard. It was intended for six old Catholic men. The last destination was the property part of the city hall complex.
The façade was rebuilt in neoclassical style in the 19th century. From that period are the great empire windows and plaster block. Inside are several rooms in Neo-Renaissance style: the main hall (1910) and the regent chamber (1922).
The courtyard, a national monument, is located in the center of Alkmaar in the Schoutenstraat between the Langestraat and Laat.
The property has been renovated inside and outside in a unique building with eight apartments. Some of them will retain the monumental status.
It is in this case concerns the apartment (34.8 m2) on the first floor at the front, accessible from the main hall and staircase. Through the hall you enter the living room with open kitchen. On the other side of the hall is a separate bedroom, also on the front. The kitchen is equipped with appliances: fridge freezer, dishwasher, ceramic hob with extractor fan and a microwave.
